Bass Strait Maritime Centre

Bluff Blitz: Citizen Science Day

Please note this is a previous program run in Autumn 2019.

Become a citizen scientist these school holidays with the Bass Strait Maritime Centre

The Bass Strait Maritime Centre has teamed up with the Marine Debris division of Sea Shepherd Tasmania, and North West author Rees Campbell, to bring you a free citizen science day at the Mersey Bluff in Devonport.

Learn how to conduct marine-life surveys in the rockpools to learn about local creatures with Rees or help clean up the Bluff coastline and collate data with Sea Shepherd. All surveys undertaken on the day will go into national databases to help real scientists learn more about the Tasmanian coastline and the effects humans are having upon them.

All ages and experience levels are welcome. No materials are needed, just appropriate clothing and footwear.
