Volunteering Activities

Bass Strait Maritime Centre was started by volunteers back in 1973. These days the museum is owned and operated by the Devonport City Council, and volunteers are still an important part of what we do.

We offer two main areas of volunteering:

  1. Font of House: Helping to ensure that every visitor has a great experience at the Museum.
  2. Research: Supporting our curator to archive historic materials and respond to research requests.

Please register your interest in volunteering by completing the registration form, (below) or contact the Museum Coordinator on 03 6420 2790.

Please note that volunteer recruitment is undertaken annually in off season.
