William Berryman Hero 1943

William Berryman awarded in 1943 for selflessly diving overboard to save a life

We were recently fortunate enough to have this wonderful bravery award donated to us. William Berryman was given this award in 1943 for selflessly diving overboard to save the life of an interstate seaman who had fallen in the Mersey at the wharf.⠀

Sadly, Mr Berryman drowned a decade later while attempting to return to his boat after his dingy capsized on a fishing trip. He did however manage to save his friend who was with him at the time. ⠀
